This is the question I often ask our clients.
One of the core principles of marketing is standing out in a crowded market. And the best way to do that is by showcasing the shiniest object in your business.
🔍 Example:
When we tell people we do SEO with AI, no one really pays attention.
But when we say we do GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), their eyes light up.
Here’s the truth: GEO is still mostly SEO… but rebranded, reframed, and positioned as the shiny object.
That’s the power of perception in marketing.
—
How to find your shiny object:
1️⃣ Reframe what you already do.
You don’t always need to invent something new. Instead, rename or reposition it in a way that feels fresh and valuable.
2️⃣ Tap into current trends.
Link your offer to buzzwords people care about (AI, sustainability, personalization, etc.). Ride the wave instead of swimming upstream.
3️⃣ Highlight the one thing competitors can’t claim.
Your process, results, or story can be the shiny object if framed well.
4️⃣ Test your shiny object in conversations.
If people’s eyes light up or they lean in when you mention it, you’ve found it. If they look bored, try again.

💡 Marketing isn’t just about what you do. It’s about how you frame it so others want to listen.
